About Sherry Gardenscapes

Sherry Gardenscapes is a family run business founded by Rob & Erika Sherry.  Sherry Gardenscapes was created out of the necessity for clients to have specialized plant care. Often times plants are miscared for either due to a lack of knowledge, time constraints or improper uniformity techniques. Not all plant species are pruned and grown the same way. “Lolly popping” and "hack chopping” every plant the same way will make plants susceptible to disease, pests and extreme stress. This can ultimately lead to slow growth or even be fatal. Not to mention it is visually unappealing. At Sherry Gardenscapes all professionals are trained and knowledgeable for the care of thousands of plant varieties. In fact many of Sherry Gardenscape’s horticulturalists have backgrounds in different plant sciences and previous greenhouse plant nursery experience. They have literally grown your plant in all of its life stages, from seed tobloom. 

Rob first realized his passion for plants when he was a toddler.  He was amazed by the hydroponic greenhouse at Epcot as he floated along through the Disney Greenhouse.  Rob was fascinated by this mixture of science and nature in the 1980’s.  At the time hydroponic gardening was in its infancy and was relatively unknown except for research purposes and NASA.  This real life science fiction experiment was astonishing to young Rob.  He knew this is what he wanted do with his life, both as a career and a hobby.  So Rob tinkered with plants at a young age.  He grew plants outside in the garden, inside by the window and then moved on to growing tropical plants under lights year round.  As a teenager Rob built indoor and outdoor greenhouses to propagate plants for his home and garden.  He then moved on to hydroponics and aeroponics in order to clone his favorite plant species.  But this wasn’t enough for him.  These hobby greenhouses did not have the technology and expertise that he desired.  So he studied and trained under some of the leading plant experts.  Once he was formally trained, Rob was now ready to care for millions of different plants at a single location, in different environments.  Plants that would not survive in the cold winters of Wisconsin without the right micro climates of a climate controlled greenhouse.  These plants could then be accelerated indoors until the weather was right outside.  Once carefully nurtured these plants would now flourish in home gardens.  It is from years of training and experience that Sherry Gardenscapes brings to grow your garden.

 Rob has been working in the garden for over 20 years.   In 2012, Rob graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Platteville with an Environmental Horticulture Bachelor of Science degree with an emphasis in Plant Breeding and Genetics.  Following graduation, Rob taught at-risk-youth in Environmental Science and maintained community gardens in both Chicago and Los Angeles.  After completing two years of helping impoverished communities, Rob then ventured into being a Horticultural Property Manager, Greenhouse Plant Nursery Manager, Designed and maintained living green walls and attended Horticultural Graduate Studies at the University of Wiscconsin Madison.  In 2017, Rob moved to Oregon where he was a greenhouse manager for the past seven years.  In 2024 Rob’s wife convinced him to start Sherry Gardenscapes, seeing a need for experienced skilled horticulturists to help clients maintain then gardens and yards.
